The Amazing Human Body — page 1 — Human Body INTRODUCTIOn The human body is an amazing piece of natural complex technology made up of billions of tiny building blocks called cells All of these cells do different jobs Cells of the same type group together to form tissue Cells and tissues are organized into larger body parts called organs and these organs form part of the essential systems that run the body All of these cells tissues organs and systems are held together within an internal frame called the skeleton The skeleton holds the body up and gives strength and shape and it also protects the internal organs and allows us to move Finally we have muscles and skin which cover the skeleton and hold everything together Every second of every day the body is doing incredible things of which we are not even aware These processes keep us alive help us fight diseases

The Amazing Human Body — page 2 — and allow us to walk talk and enjoy the world around us If you take just five minutes to think of all the things you do in a day from blinking your eyes to doing your homework you realize how truly incredible the body is Introduction From head to toe the human body can be divided into The head this is the skull and face The skull houses the brain the control room of our bodies The face is specially designed to accommodate the eyes mouth and nose from where most of the information about our daily lives is collected The neck this is the narrow part of the body which connects the head to the body The thorax or chest this is the part of the body which lies between the neck and the abdomen and contains two of the most vital organs of the body the heart and the lungs The abdomen and pelvis this is the area below the thorax and contains the organs that help to digest food The upper limbs each upper limb consists of shoulder arm forearm hand and fingers The lower limbs each lower limb consists of hip thigh leg ankle heel foot and toes

The Amazing Human Body — page 3 — Human Body The body comes in many different shapes and sizes Humans come with different skin color hair color and eye color as well as entirely differently shaped features such as noses mouths and ears Some people are tall while others are short But even though there is a great range of differences in our appearances all our bodies contain the same parts We all have 206 bones 600 muscles and 22 internal organs There is still so much left to discover about the more complicated areas of the body The human brain is one of the most complex organs on our planet There are as many neurons in the brain as there are stars in the Milky Way galaxy so it is no surprise that despite recent advances in the science of the brain we still find ourselves with so many unanswered questions about how the brain works It is also true that there is still so much to discover about cells DNA and genes and how to beat some of the diseases our bodies can catch We will help you to find out what we as humans already know
