Haven't Got a Clue!: Comic Relief — page 9 — Chapter 2 Like a Game of Ping-Pong The week had started off well enough I woke up on Monday to the sound of birds chirping not rain falling or thunder clapping I dressed in whatever clothes I could ﬁnd that were clean and found a grand breakfast waiting for me at the table My copy of the latest Max Hamilton Daring Detective comic book was sitting there just waiting to be read I took my time alternating between cereal bites and page turns as the story had me on my toes at every twist 12

Haven't Got a Clue!: Comic Relief — page 10 — The author really knew how to lay out a mystery in those comics And Max Hamilton well that guy was just aces He has taught me a lot about being a good detective I put my dirty dishes in the sink and grabbed my backpack and the comic I rubbed Little Ricky behind his ear before leaving the house and locking up The sun was shining It was perfect for a walk sure but I felt like taking it easy So I walked toward the bus stop down the block The big yellow sled pulled up to my stop and the doors opened quickly Peering faces pressed up to every window staring at me I straightened my backpack and climbed up the bus stairs The loud noises and screams all turned to whispers of excitement when the kids saw me Each one tried to predict which seat I was going to take I guess I was kind of famous these days Solving cases can do that to a kid I found a seat in the far back of the bus and watched as my neighborhood began to fade away 13
