CHAPTER 1 BREAK IN KRUNNCH Kalibak landed on a car parked along a street in Gotham City breaking his fall The hulking son of the super-villain Darkseid had jumped out a window of the loft above Broken shards of glass rained down around him sticking in his black beard and bouncing off his green uniform People standing nearby ran for cover Crawling off the smashed vehicle Kalibak slung a long cylindrical case over his shoulder Wary of his surroundings he looked around to see if anyone noticed him Someone had Whatever you just stole I’ll have to ask you to give it back said Superman his cape blowing around him The Man of Steel stood before Kalibak blocking his path Batman Wonder Woman and The Flash soon arrived alongside him You don’t get to tell me what to do Kryptonian sneered Kalibak Be careful what you wish for Kalibak removed the case from his back and opened it Batman watched as the villain pulled out a long ornate sword As Kalibak tossed the weapon from hand to hand Batman removed a Batarang from his Utility Belt just in case he needed it Put the weapon down Kalibak You can’t harm me with that warned Superman A smile crept across Kalibak’s rugged face Think again The blade of Kalibak’s sword began glowing brightly Batman drew up his cape to protect his vision Wonder Woman used her bracelets to reflect the light And The Flash closed his eyes to avoid its glare But Superman wasn’t so lucky
Even squinting the light blinded the Man of Steel His vision blurred and went fuzzy As the effects coursed through his body his legs wobbled and he lost his balance Kalibak used the opportunity to attack Look out yelled Wonder Woman Charging forward with thunderous footsteps Kalibak swung his sword at Superman But Batman stepped in tackling the Man of Steel out of the way as the sword sliced a parked car in half SKRANNGG
