The ELEPHANT and the PURIM CROWN Haviva Kierzenblat illustrated by Rebeca Luciani KAR-BEN PUBLISHING
Rachel rode through the Banyan Bazaar in a rickety rickshaw She passed the Golden Pagodas radiant after the Rangoon rain How exquisite she gasped What a wonderful Purim this will be She could hardly wait for the Purim festival She was proud of her costume And maybe she would even win the Purim crown
Beyond a banyan tree Rachel saw an elephant draped in fancy fabrics bells and beads And there was her cousin Raz dressed in his Purim costume and clutching some coins Rachel he called Let's ride the elephant We have time before the festival
