CHAPTER 2 Big Bird Cosmo Keene pried open the beak of his yellow bird suit and took a bite of black licorice He had agreed to promote Chelsea Oh's food stand Chelsea's Chick'n Mart by wearing a large feathered costume I'm trying a new plant based food Chelsea had said I'll make you a sandwich if you promote my Chick'n Mart around the carnival That's fair Cosmo had replied Chelsea rolled her eyes Carnival fair same thing she said 15
But now the sun was overhead and he was regretting his decision He hadn't even got his food yet and licorice wasn't a substitute for a sandwich He was hot and hungry I feel like an overcooked chicken he panted FOOSH A bright light flashed near the petting zoo followed by a cooling puff of wind scattering leaves across the walkway A breeze he said He strutted swiftly toward the petting zoo 16
When he arrived his mood instantly changed Those three weird sisters were whooshing kids through the air on their broom Cosmo had been on that broom before and swore he would never get on it again He had to admit that the breeze felt nice though What's going on here Cosmo snarled Are you using some kind of no good hocus pocus Brooms use alakazam Yuckmina countered At that word the broom flashed to life again carrying another pair of children into the air And we only use good hocus Hooks Jessica interrupted She had been listening to the conversation and was worried that Yuckmina might say too much about their magic Some Covenly residents weren't ready to accept the sisters magic She means they use hooks um to make the ride work 17
