CHAPTER TWO The museum was even more incredible than Max had described It had every thing The soaring ceiling of the grand hall where they entered was tiled in ornate patterns that sparkled with real gold and the mineral gallery held the largest gems and geodes that Jordan had ever seen practically big enough for him to climb inside They even had meteorites from Mars 8
Jordan’s gaze fell this way and that as he tried mostly to keep up with the rest of his class There was just so much to see What would he tell his grandmother he had learned during their visit When she was young Beverly had lived in New York City She and her friends had been famous for throwing wild parties and dressing up in fabulous outfits With a wardrobe that was still full of some of the oddest costumes you could imagine Beverly had an extremely high standard for what qualified as unusual What would be unusual enough Was it that the museum had the skeleton of a species of ancient deer called Torontoceros that was named after their city and had lived more than 11,000 years ago Thinking about just how long ago that was made Jordan’s head spin 9
