Chapter 1 Once upon a time there was a girl named Dulcinea She lived with her father in a house on the edge of a large forest They had a cow for milk chickens for eggs and fruit trees and currant bushes in the garden They also had a small vegetable patch where they grew potatoes and carrots Anything else they needed they bought at the market in town 2
Dulcinea often helped her father with the chores But more often she played with the animals in the garden Her father didn’t mind He loved his daughter more than anything and if she was happy then so was he 4
