WELCOME TO THE GALLERY Hi I'm Cora and I work in this gallery It is my job to help find pieces of art in the style of Cubism and put them up in this wing We are going to learn all about the movement of Cubism and make some art It's time to get started Museums and Galleries Museums and galleries are places that the public can visit to see art Galleries and museums can either buy or borrow art to show of to the public They also take care of artworks and make sure that they don't get damaged or faded while on display 4
TYPES OF ART You might see lots of different types of art when you visit a gallery or museum Let's look at some of the types of art that we will see in this book Sculpture is when one or many materials are put together in a way that creates a 3D object Picasso created many sculptures during his lifetime Painting is when paint is put onto a flat surface such as a canvas Paint can be put onto a canvas in many ways such as brushing splashing or scraping Georges Braque made many Cubist paintings ܕܕܕܥ Collage is a type of art where different materials are glued onto a flat surface Juan Gris used to create Cubist collages using different materials 5
