Chapter 1 Spiders Why did it have to be spiders Jesse felt frozen in place while an army of the eight-legged creepy-crawly critters climbed all over her face and neck Jesse tried to lift her hands to brush the gross hairy things away but her arms seemed as if they were glued to her sides She tried to scream but the only sound she could produce was a dull muted GLARG Jesse squeezed her eyes shut and crunched up her nose as tightly as she could in a feeble attempt at keeping the hairy little arachnid legs from wiggling into her nostrils GLARG Jesse let out another weak muffled howl Suddenly the nose-tickling became unbearable and Jesse let out a gigantic sneeze AAAAAAA-CHOOOOO 9
AAAAAAA-CHOOOOO she sneezed again Huh What Jesse sat up in bed Gross What a disgusting dream Jesse rubbed her eyes and shivered as she shook the visions of the spiders out of her head Looking at herself in the mirror she noticed the tiny white feather that had been stuck on her nose while she was sleeping Some spider you are she said to the feather as she blew it off the end of her nose with her bottom lip protruded And you Stubbs You’re no help either Sleeping on my arms like you do That was the most repulsive dream I’ve ever had Spiders YUCK Jesse shivered again Jesse sat up further in bed If I hadn’t snozed I’d still be trapped in that crazy dream Wait Is snoze a word What’s the past tense of sneeze anyway 10
