COMANCHE TERRITORY The Comanche first lived in the Rocky Mountains in what is now Wyoming In the late 1600s they traveled on horseback through the Great Plains Finally the Comanche settled in what is now the southern United States They controlled areas from Kansas to Texas and from New Mexico to Oklahoma The people lived in groups called bands Over hundreds of years the Comanche grew from three to 12 bands
