There are several types of plains Prairies are found in North and South America They have tall grasses Steppes are another type of plain They have shorter grasses than prairies This is because steppes do not get much rainfall Both steppes and prairies can have warm summers and cold winters FUN FACT More than one-third of Earth’s land is covered in plains
The Serengeti is a savanna in Africa Savannas are in areas that stay warm all year They get little rainfall and have scattered trees Savannas can be found in Africa South America and Australia They are in the southern part of North America too
