WHAT DO THESE NUMBERS MEAN Your answer to each question will be assigned Weird o Meter points located at the bottom of each page Keep track of your score as you go through the chapter so you can determine your overall Weird O Meter ranking for each section The numbers range 1 4 so even if your answer is totally out there and only 2 out of 100 kids answered the same way the highest you can get is 4 points That way one super strange or super normal answer won't totally throw off your number WHERE DO I FIND OUT HOW NORMAL I am At the end of each section you'll total up your points to see how normal or weird you are compared with all the other kids You might find you're totally weird in one category and totally normal in another Or you might be about the same from category to category but vary a lot from question to question Any way you score is totally your own and fine totally
MORE ABOUT THE NUMBERS WHEN WILL THESE NUMBERS MAKE SENSE You may not have learned fractions or percentages yet But don't worry it's not so hard Imagine 10 kids in a row If 5 of them agree on the same answer then that's the same as writing half the kids agree or 5 out of 10 agree or 1 2 agree or 50 agree A PERCENT EQUALS 1 PART OF 100 So 50 parts of 100 50 percent 50 50 100 1 2 50 people out of every 100 The lower the percent the less normal something is If 97 of your friends wear pants on their legs it's super normal If 3 wear them on their heads it's really really NOT normal really normal 97 3 really not normal So if ten thousand kids answer a question and five thousand kids answer the same way then that's the same as half or 1 2 or 50 or you get idea the
