7 the durability bar The durability bar only shows up after you’ve used the weapon or tool for the first time and it starts as a full green bar As you use the weapon the bar shortens and even tually turns red Finally the colored bar disappears leaving an empty gray space when you are at the end of the weapon’s life time However you still have a couple of uses when the color ed bar disappears The number of uses remaining depends on the material A gold weapon will have only 2 more uses while a diamond will have 61 Under the sword pickaxe and bow you can see the durability bar You can also find out the exact durability remaining on any weapon in your inventory by turning durability tool tips on To do this press the F3 and H buttons at the same time On a Mac you may need to press the Fn F3 and H buttons at the same time You can see exact durability in item tool tips if you press F3 H to turn this on Swords
chapter 2 BOW AND ARROW a bow and arrow is essential for killing mobs from a distance If you have a chance to kill a mob from a little ways away take it This keeps you safe However you will still need to get up close to any dropped experience orbs to get the XP points Crafting a Bow and an Arrow The hard part of bows and arrows is getting the resources to make enough of them especially when you are at the start of your game You will need three pieces of string which you get
9 fairly easily from killing spiders with your sword In the daytime big spiders are passive and you can often find a couple spiders in the morning that spawned overnight around your house They’ll turn hostile when you strike your first blow but at least you start out with the advantage Craft a bow with 3 sticks 3 string For arrows you can gather some already made arrows by killing skeletons Skeletons will randomly drop 0 2 arrows However unless you have a skeleton mob farm you won’t get enough arrows from killing skeletons alone To make your own arrows you need sticks flint and feathers A flint 1 stick and 1 feath er make 4 arrows Ideally you’ll want to have between a half stack and a stack of arrows 32 64 on you pretty much all the time depending on how often you use your bow For 64 arrows you’ll need 16 pieces of flint and 16 feathers And that means you’ll need to shovel about 160 blocks of gravel and kill about 16 chickens You probably will want the Infinity enchantment for your bow as soon as possible The Infinity enchantment gives you infinite arrows as long as you keep one single arrow in your inventory Bow and arrow
