Performing Magic — page 1 — INTRODUCTION Within these pages you will discover great magic tricks that are easy to do and impressive to watch To be a successful magician you will need to practice the tricks in private before you perform them in front of an audience An excellent way to practice is in front of a mirror since you can watch the magic happen before your own eyes When performing you must speak clearly slowly and loudly enough for everyone to hear But never tell the audience what’s going to happen Remember to watch your angles This means being careful about where your spectators are standing or sitting when you are performing The best place is directly in front of you Never tell the secret of how the trick is done If someone asks just say It’s magic 4

Performing Magic — page 3 — FLOATING ON AIR ILLUSION The magician’s feet rise off the ground and he ﬂ oats in the air 1 Prior to the trick the magician gets two small very strong magnets He tapes them inside his shoes along the inner walls duct tape works well for this Now when he brings his feet together the magnets will make contact and attract each other through the shoes The magician’s shoes should be large enough for him to slip his feet in and out easily 2 To perform the trick the magician takes a large towel in both hands and holds it at waist height He lets it fall to the ﬂ oor allowing just the front of his shoes to show He holds his feet together so that the magnets make contact 6

Performing Magic — page 4 — 3 The magician now secretly slips one foot out of its shoe and brings it down behind the shoe The towel will hide this action from the spectators MAGIC TIP Rehearse this trick in front of a full-length mirror 4 The magician slowly lifts up his other foot The empty shoe will rise with it giving the appearance that both feet are ﬂ oating in the air He must not lift his foot too high or his shoeless foot will be exposed The towel should continue to rest on his shoes the entire time 7
