PUERTO RICO GEOGRAPHY Puerto Puerto Rico is a group of islands in the Caribbean Sea It is part of a chain of large islands called the Greater Antilles They are part of a larger region of islands called the West Indies West of Puerto Rico is the island of Hispaniola which includes the countries of Haiti and the Dominican Republic The two islands are separated by a body of water called the Mona Passage East of Puerto Rico are the Virgin Islands To the north is the Atlantic Ocean and to the south is the Caribbean Sea Puerto Rico is about 1 000 miles 1 609 km southeast of Florida It is an archipelago made up of several islands Puerto Rico is the name of the biggest island in the group There are several smaller islands including Culebra Mona Desecheo Caja de Muertos and Vieques Culebra Island PUERTO RICO
