Understanding Personification — page 3 — WHTY USE PERSONIFICATION 2 We use personification to make our stories come alive We can personify ideas objects and animals Giving them human characteristics such as walking talking and feeling makes our stories interesting and fun to read Would you rather read about three boys eating porridge or three bears eating porridge Wouldn t it be boring if the magic mirror on the wall said nothing at all Read the sentences below Some have personification and some do not Spot the sentences that make ideas objects or animals seem human The thirsty plant begged for water The stairs made a creaking noise when we climbed them The dry plant needed water The tired old stairs groaned Re when we stepped on them Darkness crept silently upon the town The town suddenly got dark RAP
