the story of apple When Steve Wozniak designed a computer in 1976 his friend Steve Jobs suggested that they find a way to make it available to the public Wozniak took the computer to his bosses at Hewlett-Packard to see if they were interested in producing it They turned him down Jobs approached his employers at Atari as well offering them the opportunity to buy and market the computer but again the idea was rejected Instead of giving up however Wozniak sold his most prized possession a Hewlett-Packard programmable calculator for 250 and Jobs sold his beloved red-and white Volkswagen bus for 1,500 They put the money together and started Apple Computer Inc in 1977 Over the next 30-plus years that company would help revolutionize the com puter industry built for success
