My name is Ben and I am six years old I’m like other kids except I can’t eat peanuts or peanut butter I can’t even touch them That’s because I’m allergic to peanuts When I was two I took a bite of peanut butter and got really sick My lips got puffy and I got a rash all over I couldn’t breathe and had to go to the hospital
I don’t want to get sick like that again To stay safe I have to be very careful about what I eat and ask people not to eat peanuts or peanut butter when they are with me Sometimes it’s hard to tell others about my food allergy Sometimes I am scared to talk but I take a deep breath and do it anyway I always feel better after I speak up
