Gary Paulsen

You know those kids who are constantly reading, closing one book and reaching for another? Gary Paulsen, the award-winning author, was that kind of kid. He discovered his love of reading at a young age. He then read several books in his home's basement. Gary Paulsen book is a biography that introduces readers to Gary Paulsen, the Newbery Medal-winning author of Hatchet. He was born in 1939 and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with his extended family. Gary Paulsen didn't meet his father for many years because he was an Army officer. When he was 14, he ran away and joined the carnival. He prefers nature to cities and has spent much of his life avoiding human contact, surrounded by the vast wilderness that he finds so comforting. This attitude is reflected in many of his books. Gary Paulsen draws inspiration from his past experiences and connects with his young audience.
