under the direction of Wilbur and Orville them selves The Wright brothers believed that photogra phy was a good way to keep a scientific and historical record of their invention These photographs used glass plate negatives and many of the negatives have been damaged or broken over the 100 or so years they've been moved handled and stored Some of the negatives were even underwater for several days during Dayton Ohio’s disastrous 1913
