Bono is a rocker who also works to end poverty and improve health care worldwide Singer Bono is known for both political songs and political action The rocker was born in 1960 in Dublin Ireland His real name is Paul David Hewson He got the nickname Bono in high school It is short for Bono Vox Latin for good voice His band U2 formed in 1976 Bono was just 16 years old Many of U2’s early hits had social spiritual or political messages One famous example is Sunday Bloody Sunday It pled for peace in Ireland It describes violent BONO OPENS OUR EYES TO GLOBAL POVERTY 2 6
